Homework
is a very worthwhile part of your child's day and it is very important
to his/her success in first grade. Your child's homework is a
review and additional practice of the important skills that have been
introduced in class.
Your
child's homework should encourage responsibility and should not be
viewed as a punishment. Contrary, it is a way to help your child
succeed in school. One way to teach responsibility is by
expecting your child to complete homework and return it to school in
their folder.
Homework
is usually assigned Monday - Thursday. I usually do not assign
homework on Fridays (except for the new week's spelling
and dictation). It should take students no more than 15 to 20
minutes to complete each night, and an additional 15 minutes to read
and practice their coding skills.
Parents,
you are the key to making homework a positive experience for your
child. So please, make it a priority, provide the necessary
supplies, and a quiet learning environment. If you have any
problems you may call me at school before 4:00 p.m. or email
me anytime.
